Juni Marie Haavind
Head of International Press Forum
Juni Marie Haavind is a second-year student at Sciences Po Paris, Campus Menton. Growing up in the Arctic city of Tromsø allowed her to observe the direct impacts of climate change, sparking her interest in international cooperation on global issues. Through cultural activities, Juni was active in her local community, which was strongly influenced by indigenous Sámi heritage. This contributed to an early interest in human rights and freedom of expression for marginalized groups, as she witnessed the consequences of systematic oppression of the Sámi. Her interest in the environment and human rights led her to aim for an international career, forming her decision to broaden her horizons by moving to France and studying the MENA region. She is particularly interested in urban public health in the confrontation with climate change and how infrastructure development can hinder social inequities. Always eager to gain new perspectives, Juni is delighted to join this year’s MEDMUN board as Head of Press for the content pole, directing the International Press Forum.
