MEDMUN is the Mediterranean Model United Nations, a three-day conference hosted at Sciences Po's Middle East and Mediterranean campus in Menton. Delegates step into the roles of diplomats, ministers, journalists and judges to negotiate the issues shaping Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
What sets us apart is total immersion: crisis committees that interact in real time, courts, an International Press Forum reporting live from the floor, and our Conseil MUNicipal — all folded into one interconnected simulation, in the six languages of the Mediterranean.

Why MEDMUN
Fourteen editions on, MEDMUN has grown into the largest MUN conference in the Mediterranean — without losing the intimacy of a seaside campus.
Menton, between the mountains and the sea
MEDMUN takes place at Sciences Po Paris' Middle East and Mediterranean campus in Menton, a small seaside town on the Franco-Italian border. The academic rigour is that of a Grande École; the setting is lemon groves, belle-époque façades and the sea.
Delegates don't just visit Menton — the conference is woven into it, from the opening ceremony to the closing gala, with ceremonies and committee visits from over a dozen invited professionals who frame each edition's debates.
Total interactivity
Our signature is "crisis mode": committees at MEDMUN don't sit in isolation. Cabinets negotiate with — and against — each other in real time, the International Press Forum reports live from the floor, and courts rule on what the assemblies decide.
Eighteen committees run across three difficulty levels and six languages, so a first-time high-school delegate and a final-year crisis veteran both find a room that stretches them.

Open to every delegate
Fees are only due after acceptance, beginner committees welcome first-timers, and MEDMUN Online lets students from across the region participate remotely when travel isn't possible.
A safe conference
Clear codes of conduct for delegates, chairs and staff, with a designated point of contact throughout the weekend. Everyone debates hard; everyone goes home glad they came.
Light on the coast
We keep the conference footprint small: local partners, minimal printing, and reusable materials wherever the logistics allow — this is the Mediterranean we debate about, after all.

What's an MUN?
Never done Model United Nations before? Here's everything you need to walk into your first committee session with confidence.
You, as a diplomat
In a Model UN, each participant represents a country (or a minister, judge or journalist) in a simulated international body. You research your country's position, deliver speeches, negotiate with allies and rivals, and draft resolutions — just as real delegations do in Geneva or New York.
At MEDMUN, that simulation goes further: committees interact, crises unfold in real time, and the press reports on all of it as it happens.

Committees vote, awards are given, and Menton sends you off properly.
No. Committees are tiered — beginner, intermediate, advanced — and beginner rooms are chaired with first-timers in mind. Thousands of delegates have had their very first MUN experience at MEDMUN.
Committees run in the six languages of the Mediterranean: French, English, Arabic, Italian, Spanish and Turkish. You choose a committee in a language you're comfortable with — you don't need to speak all six!
MEDMUN Online offers dedicated online committees so students and high-schoolers across the region can participate remotely, in French and in English.

MEDMUN Online
Two dedicated online committees — one in French, one in English — open the conference to students and high-schoolers across the Mediterranean who can't travel to Menton.
Crisis mode
Our crisis committees pair two cabinets, each with its own chair, working with — or against — each other in real time. Fast, unscripted, and unlike anything in a standard committee.

10–12 April 2026 · The fourteenth edition brought eighteen committees across six languages to Menton, with online committees returning for a second year.
4–6 April 2025. Eighteen committees including four crisis committees, three courts, the International Press Forum and the debut of the Conseil MUNicipal — plus MEDMUN's first online committees.
5–7 April 2024. Seventeen committees in six languages, centred on the geographical, cultural, political and economic connections binding Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
